Immunohistochemical investigation of biomarkers for predicting adipose tissue invasion in oral squamous cell carcinoma

چکیده
The purpose of the present study was to identify histological biomarkers that could be used predict adipose tissue invasion by oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). medical records and preoperative computed tomography scans patients with primary OSCC suspected buccal fat pad were retrospectively reviewed, an immunohistochemical candidate predictive (α-SMA, E-cadherin, N-cadherin, FABP4, Col VI, MMP-11) carried out. Thirty whose tumors in contact based on imaging included this study. Of these, infiltrative histopathologically confirmed 6 (20.0 %). significant higher immunoreactivity detected tumor-buccal area compared tumor surface area.(Pearson’s correlation coefficient test: α-SMA: 0.422, p < 0.05; N-cadherin: 0.476, 0.01; FABP4: 0.467, 0.01;). In area, VI significantly than without (median test, 0.01). Furthermore, high α-SMA expression exhibited a tendency towards association invasion, as did FABP4 = 0.06, 0.07). These results suggest levels may useful for predicting aggressive OSCC.

Immunohistochemical Evaluation of Fascin in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Background and purpose: Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the eighth most common cancer in men and the fifteenth in women. Localized recurrence and metastasis to regional lymph nodes are major problems in these patients. Fascin is a 55- kDa protein from the family of actin-binding proteins that is expressed in cells with membranous bronchial tubes. The aim of this study was to evaluate the expre...
متن کاملPredictors of Thyroid Gland Invasion in Laryngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Introduction: Laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) can invade the thyroid gland leading to unnecessary thyroidectomies with subsequent hypothyroidism and hyperparathyroidism. Thus, clinicopathological variables should be defined in order to predict thyroid gland invasion preoperatively. Materials and Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis of 1,465 patients with laryngeal SCC referr...
متن کاملComparing Immunohistochemical Expression of Podoplanin between Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma and Normal Oral Mucosa
Background and purpose: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is the sixth most common cancer in the world. Podoplanin is a mucin-like integral membrane glycoprotein that is expressed in the lymphatic endothelial cells but not in the blood vascular endothelial cells. The aim of the present study was to investigate the immunohistochemical expression of podoplanin and evaluating lymphangiogenesis i...
متن کاملClinical Significance of Salivary Biomarkers in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Review
Background and Aim: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) accounts for approximately 3% of all cancers worldwide, and if diagnosed early, it has a five-year survival rate of around 85%; however, a late diagnosis may decrease the survival rate to 50%. Aberrant expression of several genes is associated with the hallmarks of OSCC including uncontrolled cell proliferation, poor differentiation, invas...
متن کاملTissue eosinophilia in oral and cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma and normal oral and cutaneous tissues
Introduction: Eosinophils produce proteases that stimulate invasion in cancers. Due to the more malignant potential of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) compared to cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC), the aim of the present study was to compare tissue eosinophilia between OSCC and CSCC samples to understand whether tissue eosinophilia play a role in different biological...
